Where are film trailers shown?

Movie trailers are shown on almost every media platform, so that the film can get wide coverage before its release. These platforms can include; cinemas, DVD's, movie and trailer websites, television, YouTube and social media. Where there are specific audiences (like in a cinema or a DVD of a certain genre), distributors will show trailers that will appeal to this target market. Although a mass media campaign gives the movie the best chance of success; viewers don't always respond to trailers and there can be many disadvantages of advertising on certain types of media.
This prezi shows the pros and cons of showing trailers on those platforms.
